“Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke” Spoilers CONTENT WARNING

Updated: Jan 28, 2023

Would you still love me if I was a worm?

I don't even know where to start with this god-awful "book." Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca is a sad attempt at an LGBTQIA+ horror novella. There are so many things wrong with this story which is a shame because the writing was somewhat decent. I'm going to be writing spoilers so if you really want to read this terrible book don't read this review. Basically, it's about two women who meet on an LGBTQIA+ forum/chat room in the year 2000. Long story short one wants a master/slave relationship and the other is lonely and will do anything to please the one wanting that relationship. The "Sponsor" as they like to be called wants the "Drudge" to do some pretty fucked up things including going to a park and finding a salamander and smashing it. The one thing that was so freaking disgusting was that they made them buy some raw meat, leave it out so it would rot, and then eat it raw so that they would get a parasite because the "Drudge" wanted to have a baby.

“I'm a host to a tapeworm. Our child.”

Here's a little snippet of a page from this terrible book.

I feel like this was just written as fetish porn for some really fucked up people because this wasn't a horror book at all. It was just some gross shock value garbage. I'm pissed that I spent money to read this and I'm pissed that I spent time reading this.

I would give this novella a 0 out of 5-star rating. It should never have been written.
