“Property of a Noblewoman”

Property of a Noblewoman by Danielle Steel is the third novel I have read by her. This one is about a large safe deposit box that is abandoned and found to have priceless jewels in it along with photos and letters. The mystery unravels when a law student comes to view the deposit box and get it appraised to sell at auction. I had high hopes for this novel because the premise seemed really cool and historical. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all. This book revealed the twist about a quarter of the way into it and then it just repeated itself over and over and over again. I was so tired of reading one character doing something and then in the next chapter, they would tell another character the exact same thing the next chapter. It was such a drag. I ended up skimming the last 60 pages in this one. It seems to be a pattern with Steel and her newer novels.

I think I was going to go with 3 stars for this one but after thinking about it more and more this one didn't really bring me as much joy as I would have liked so I think I'm going to move it down to a 2-star rating.
